The Blaa, Waterford's Greatest Treasure
blaa, the
n.
The
blaa is a type of bread only found in Waterford City & County (Ireland) that comes in one of three varieties i.e. floury, chewy and crusty. They are a distinctive square shape and are most notably identified by the large quantity of flour shaken over them
after the baking process. They can be eaten with several fillings from regular potato crisp snacks to sausages and other meat like substances.
They're gorgeous and a part of every Waterford person's staple diet.
NOTE: Some people have suggested blaas are a form of bap, this is untrue as anyone who has ever eaten one will confirm.
