Brendan Boyer and the Royal Showband defined the music of a generation in the swinging sixties in Ireland with ‘The Hucklebuck’ – in dancehalls all over the country they were wriggling like snakes and waddling like ducks to one of the biggest dance tunes of the decade.

Internationally renowned physicist, specialising in gas and pressure.  Famous for Boyle's Law.
Congreve, Ambrose
Creator of one of the world's great gardens (Mount Congreve in Waterford - go see it!!!)
Crotty, William
This highway robber, in the guise of Robin Hood, has been the source of many legends in the parish of Rathgormack. His encounters with the British Army in the foothills of the Comeraghs have been the theme of many a Seanachie tale which have been handed down to us from over 250 years ago.

Kelly, Seán
Ireland's most successful racing cyclist. Seán Kelly, from Rathcormack, Co. Waterford, not far from Carrick-on-Suir. Experts agree that Seán Kelly is among the top eight of the greatest cyclists of all time!!! 
Maher, Tom
One of Waterford city's best-known characters, publican Tom Maher, died at the grand old age of 92. His O'Connell Street licensed premises, Moondarrig House, is one of the city's cultural landmarks. A teetotaller, Tom had three simple rules: no cursing, no smoking and no women (except his wife Mary of course).

Luke Wadding (1588-1657)
Historian and theologian, responsible for Patrick's day festival. Were it not for his humility, he would have attained to the highest honours in the Church!!!
 
Wallace, William Vincent (1812-1865)
Composer and musician of world renown, this man had some amazing adventures, his life has to be made into a movie!
