Win a Hurley Signed by the Waterford Senior Hurling Team

www.UpTheDeise.com - For all your Waterford Wants and Deise Desires

UpTheDeise.com is offering all of its message board members a chance to win a hurley signed by the Waterford Senior Hurling team.

Let me tell you a little bit about message boards before I tell you more about the draw...

Message boards are at the heart of Internet communities. Imagine being able to discuss topics regarding Waterford with other like minded people such as the GAA, Soccer, Politics, Religion, Jokes, History etc. whenever you wish? Say you get home from a GAA match and you are bursting to discuss an incident with others to find out what happened exactly, with message boards you can do just this.

To use message boards is simple, generally you must sign up or register to join a discussion, but you may view discussions by just visiting the board and clicking on the topic of interest to you. If you wish to input your own thoughts you must sign up with a username and password. Your username on a message board is part of what is called an avatar or a character that represents you online. Generally you would not post using your real name but you might use a nick name or something that means something to you. On some Waterford sites there are people called Deise Girl, Korean Blaas and Large Bottles, to name just a few.

Once you have signed up they are simple to use. When you wish to post you just visit the website and log-in. Once you are logged in you simply browse to the board you wish to view and at any stage you can respond to existing posts or start new topics. In general if you wish to respond to a topic you would click the option “Post Reply” and if you want to start a new topic you could click the option “New Post”. In either case a new screen will be presented to you with the option to enter a subject heading and a message body, just as if you were writing an E-Mail. Once you have written your piece you then simply click on “Submit” and your message will be posted. If you wish to change your message afterwards you can go back in and edit your post.

When you sign up to a message board it is important that you obey the policy of the site as there would normally be active moderators checking for bad posts that contain racist comments, explicit language or content unsuitable for the general public. Members that post such content have their posts removed and are notified by the moderating team and if they continue to post such content they can be barred from posting. The comments posted by users is considered their own content so posts of a libelous nature from members cannot be attributed to the website hosting the board, especially if an active team of moderators police the board and delete such content whenever they come across it.

UpTheDeise.com has a message board for all Waterford people including Waterford United fans, Waterford Hurling fans, people who like chatting about the things to do in Waterford City and County and the history we have here. In fact several letters posted to politicians, businesses and papers have come directly from discussion on the board. If you love Waterford and would like to get things off your chest or let people know about something amazing in Waterford that not many people know about you have to come online and tell us all. There is a community of almost 600 people on the site waiting to hear what you have to say. The board has almost 10,000 posts a month and more than 10 times as many views.

As a special way of giving back to the community, UpTheDeise.com is running a free draw for all active members. Once a month, a random active member is selected from the board to win a prize. Prizes such as UpTheDeise.com merchadise & DVDs are up for grabs and as a special prize this summer a Hurley signed by the Senior Hurling team is up for grabs.

Every month a winner will be randomly selected by our computers and posted on the board.
